David Velička (J.D.)

David Velička finished his studies at Palacky University in Olomouc in 2006, whereas during the studies he also studied law at University of Graz in Austria. Prior to founding law firm he was working for several years at prominent local and international law firm in Prague.

David Velička has assisted among others in legal advisory to many financial subjects undertaking business in the Czech market in connection with acquisition and property financing and solving related financial and regulatory issues. He has also provided complex legal advisory to Czech and foreign developers in connection with the acquisition and construction of resident and non – resident projects in the Czech Republic. David Velička has also advised foreign investors on their entry into the Czech market.

David Velička has been lately focused on advisory to corporations and natural persons in connection with complex disputes or in situations involving insolvency aspects, and also advisory on bulk sale or collection of debt portfolios.

Fees

The remuneration for the legal services rendered by us is always based on mutual agreement with a specific client, and depending on the expertise and the time complexity of legal services (the contractual fee). The reward is usually expressed in terms of hourly rate. We inform the client about the maximum range of anticipated acts in his matter, and he subsequently gets a detailed specification of legal services provided.

The non – contractual fee is governed by the relevant provisions of the Regulation of the Ministry of Justice. In this case, the client pays the acts of legal services as defined by the Lawyer’s tariff in the amount set out by the Lawyer´s tariff as well.

With regular cooperation with our office, it is possible to arrange a flat monthly fee according to the anticipated range of used services. The amount of the flat-rate remuneration and other conditions of the cooperation in this case is determined on the basis of an individual agreement with the client.

The statutory VAT is always added to the fee for the legal services.

When beginning a new case we ask the client to make an advance payment. The advance payment shall be deducted against the first invoice. If only a one-time consultation is required, no retainer is needed.

THE NEW CIVIL CODE AND THE BUSINESS CORPORATIONS ACT

On 1 January 2014, the new Civil Code, the Business Corporations Act and a number of other regulations came into effect.
